July 29th is celebrated as Global Tiger Day, and this year came with the confirmation that tiger populations are on the rise in India, which is home to over 70% of the global population. This is happy news indeed and confirmation that sustained, well-planned efforts at conservation are working. Kudos to Project Tiger, which oversees tiger conservation efforts in India.

The month of July also saw Ethiopia creating a new world record by planting 350 million trees in a single day. Records apart, efforts like these are the need of the hour when forests around the world continue to shrink at alarming rates. It is however heartening to see reforestation campaigns around the world picking up momentum, with major countries putting their weight behind these efforts. At PawsTrails we were busy doing our bit and we conducted two interactive sessions on conservation and photography in the past two months.

This is our 18th edition, which commemorates three years of PT Explorers. We have loved writing about positive efforts around the world to protect mother nature. When we look back at the last three years, it is working and interacting with passionate conservationists and photographers from around the world that we treasure most. It has been a true privilege to publish articles and photographs that the PawsTrails community from around the world contributed wholeheartedly.

To acknowledge this landmark we are introducing a new feature in PT Explorers – Thematic Gallery. From this edition onwards we will feature this new section, which will be a collection of amazing photographs from our contributors focused on a particular theme each edition. This edition, Thematic Gallery portrays images on the theme “Motherhood”.

Let us renew our pledge towards mother earth and do our bit for nature.
