This volume of PT Explorers completes three years of publications covering over 200 stories that have been contributed by dedicated naturalists and photographers. We thank everyone who has volunteered to help PT Explorers during its first three years.
Australia is our theme of Volume 18. – this large, isolated southern hemisphere continent supports a wide variety of amazing fauna and flora. Peter Coyne describes the history and special features of Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. The island state of Tasmania supports amazing relic ecosystems with flora dating back to the ancient super continent Gondwana. Tom Allen of the Wilderness Society describes their efforts to protect the world’s largest remaining temperate rain forest. Rich Gilmore of Australia’s The Nature Conservancy tells us of their land conservation efforts around the whole of Australia – a huge land conservation task.
The cover story of this edition brings to you a practitioner of the rare trade of trap photography. Sascha Fonseca, talks about the different aspects of this genre and its importance in conservation photography.
Vipin Sharma takes us to Bengal India where he photographed the rare Fishing Cat. Photojournalist Mobeen Ansari takes us to Pakistan’s Hunza Valley. Cub’s Corner features KS Palna who treats us to scenes in Nairobi National Park, Kenya.
British wildlife artist Julie Askew describes her TimeLine approach to wildlife paintings in Africa and Oman on the Arabian Peninsula. South African nature photographer Jashika Patel describes her motivation and experiences as a globe-trotting wildlife photographer.
Volume 18 introduces a new section “Thematic Gallery” showcasing “Motherhood” with a stunning variety of thirteen mother-child images contributed by thirteen outstanding nature photographers.
