Amish Chhagan is a Zambia-raised, award-winning wildlife and conservation photographer now based in Barcelona, Spain. Growing up in Zambia, he was blessed with the unique opportunity to live close to the rich African flora and fauna, an experience that deeply shaped his outlook on life and his passion for the natural world.
From a young age, Amish became acutely aware of the stark contrasts between the bustling urban environment where he was raised and the untamed wilderness that surrounded him—contrasts that were ecological, physical, visual, and mental.
The vast, serene landscapes of Africa instilled in him a sense of peace and wonder, while the thrill of encountering wildlife added excitement and joy to his childhood. This connection with nature only deepened when Amish discovered photography (or perhaps when photography found him), allowing him to channel his love for the wild into a lifelong pursuit of capturing the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
