Amanda Monahan is an undergraduate student at Penn State University pursuing a Biology degree and a minor in Marine Sciences. A lifelong animal lover, Amanda is passionate about understanding animal health and behavior. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue veterinary school and specialize in wildlife rehabilitation.
This year, she began working with Peter Hudson on projects focused on ecology and climate change, and this is her first article in Pt Aware. This past December was her first trip to the Masai Mara, where she participated in a field ecology course with several other Penn State and Masai students. While there, she was able to observe wildlife up close in the savannah, and she credits the experience with strengthening her passion to pursue veterinary medicine as well as conservation.
